Dear Ford Motor Company

Dear Ford Motor Company,

I am shocked to find out that Ford Motor Company decided to pull your company's advertisements from publications for gay people because of demands made by James Dobson's organization, Focus on the Family, and the American Family Association. It is a sad day when a company changes its policy to suit the demands of a person whose exclusionary agenda goes against the company's values.

Let me point out the Ford Motor Company's value statement: "We are an inspired, diverse team. We respect and value everyone's contribution. The health and safety of our people are paramount." The definition for everyone is everybody. I think it is only logical that that value statement include gay people.

If Ford is an inspired, diverse team, why did Ford Motor Company pull out their advertisements from publications for gay people? Are they not part of the diversity of America and world society?

Another part of the Ford Company's value statement is this: "Our integrity is never compromised and we make a positive contribution to society." The Ford Motor Company compromised its integrity by pulling out the advertisements based on the demands of James Dobson, Focus on Family and the American Family Association.

Until Ford changes their position and resumes their advertisements in publications serving the gay community, I shall not purchase any product that is made by Ford. I shall also distribute this letter to various newspapers and to my friends.

Sincerely,
Thomas
