Life is interesting...once again. I lost a friend to a drunk driving accident early Saturday morning. I met her at a local gay bar where I go often to hang out with my friends. She became my friend after she watched me sign a song. I taught her a few signs.
The funniest thing would be we would look at each other the next time we meet and say "I don't remember your name." After 3rd time, it was a charm, we both remembered. The last thing I remember about her was we were dancing and I asked her in sign language "How are you?" and she replied "Fine, drunk!" I was relieved that she rode a taxi when she left the bar. The story goes that after she got home, she decided she was hungry and got in her car to go to Steak 'n Shake. Her car flipped and rolled a few times.
To Wanda: For your every smile and every hug, we, your family, love you!
Through her death, I have learned that I have created such a family, maybe not created but joined a family at that place where a simple hug and a nod, we know what we are crying and hugging for. An embrace that is not let go until we say "I love you". She has brought us closer to each other.
